DJ, Sound and Lighting at The Cornealius Properties
27 events produced across the Cornealius properties with 10 more booked — one of the fastest-growing venues on our calendar. An open-air chapel and an enclosed hall, which is two different audio jobs in one day.

Twenty-seven done, ten on the books
We have produced 27 events across the Cornealius properties and hold 10 more on the calendar. That forward number is one of the highest on our books relative to what we have already done there, which is usually the sign of a venue that is growing fast and whose couples are talking to each other.
The properties sit on roughly eighty-five acres outside Goldsboro and are family run. Two of them take weddings: the Birdsong Chapel campus — chapel, Carriage Hall, honeymoon house and cabin — and The Lewis Atkinson, a historic home with gardens, a pavilion and a reception hall.
Birdsong Chapel is open-air, and that changes the ceremony completely
This is the single most important planning fact on the property and it is the one couples most often do not think about until the rehearsal. Birdsong Chapel is roofed but open-walled. It is 1,728 square feet, seats around 200 in antique pews, has 28-foot cathedral ceilings and ceiling fans rather than air conditioning.
Acoustically that is not a room. It is a covered outdoor space, and it behaves like one: no walls to contain or reflect the voice, birdsong and wind as a permanent noise floor, and ceiling fans adding their own. A stand microphone at the front will not carry to the back pews on a breezy day. We run lavaliers on the officiant and the couple, place speakers along the pews rather than only at the altar, and set the system for the conditions on the day rather than for the room on paper.
There is also a bell. The chapel tower bell is rung at the end of the ceremony, often by a child, and it is one of the nicest moments of a Cornealius wedding. It is also a cue, and cues need to be planned — we know when it is coming and what the music does around it.
Carriage Hall, and the shift indoors
Carriage Hall is roughly 3,000 square feet, fully enclosed and air conditioned, with a 1,500 square foot covered patio behind large carriage-style doors, string lights and iron furniture. Going from an open-walled chapel to an enclosed hall in the same hour means two genuinely different setups, not one system moved.
The venue includes 200 white chiavari chairs, twelve custom eight-foot farm tables, a sweetheart table, optional rounds, bistro tables and a mobile bar. That is a well-equipped room. What it does not include is a reception system, dance floor lighting or anything that makes the space look different after dinner, which is where we come in.
Load-in is a real consideration here
Guests park in a three-acre lot and reach the venues by golf cart or on foot, along wooded paths with decorative lighting. Lovely for guests. For a crew carrying speakers, subs, uplights and cable, it is a question we ask before every booking: what can we actually drive to, and how close.
We plan for the worst case — a carry — and are pleased when it is not. Practically that means fewer, better-chosen fixtures rather than a truck’s worth of gear dragged up a path, and it means arriving early enough that the load-in is not happening while guests arrive.
What we bring
- DJ and MC for Carriage Hall or The Lewis Atkinson reception hall
- Open-air ceremony audio for Birdsong Chapel — lavaliers, distributed speakers, wind-tolerant setup
- A separate cocktail system for the covered patio or the gardens
- Uplighting inside Carriage Hall and up the chapel’s timber
- Dance floor lighting programmed to the set
- Monograms, cold sparks and photobooths from our enhancements list, subject to venue approval
Questions we get about The Cornealius Properties
Where exactly is this? Some listings say Raleigh.
Goldsboro, in Wayne County. At least one wedding directory files it under Raleigh, which is wrong — the ZIP code is a Goldsboro one. It is about an hour east of Raleigh and a little under two hours from our Greensboro warehouse.
Do you charge travel to Goldsboro?
Yes, there is a travel line. It is a real drive and we would rather price it honestly than bury it. It goes on the quote up front.
Will people be able to hear the vows in the chapel?
Yes, if it is set up for what the chapel actually is. It is open-walled, so we use lavalier microphones and distribute speakers along the pews instead of relying on a pair at the altar. We have done 27 events on this property and the ceremony is the part we spend the most planning time on.
Is there air conditioning in the chapel?
No. It has ceiling fans for summer and a blanket rack for winter. That is part of its charm and it is worth knowing when you pick a July date. From our side it means the fans are part of the noise floor and we set the system accordingly.
Can you cover the ceremony at the chapel and the reception in Carriage Hall?
That is the standard shape of a day here and it is two distinct setups. We build both before guests arrive rather than moving one system at speed during cocktails.
Which property should we look at, Birdsong or The Lewis Atkinson?
That is a question for the venue, not for us — they are different in feel and in price. From an AV point of view Birdsong means an open-air ceremony you need to plan for, and The Lewis Atkinson is a historic home with gardens and a covered pavilion. Both work. Tell us which you have booked and we will design for that one specifically.
Tell us your date at The Cornealius Properties
We already know the room. Send us the date and what you have in mind and we will come back with a real proposal in simple line items. Wedding packages start at $1,800 and most couples land between $2,500 and $3,500.
