Fifteen minutes from our door

We have produced 22 events at Summerfield Farms since August 2019, with 7 more on the calendar. It is close enough to our Greensboro warehouse that there is no travel line and enough slack in the day to build properly.

It is a working farm with two very different event spaces, and it is unusually well set up for production compared with most farm venues.

The generator is a bigger deal than it sounds

Summerfield Farms lists an automatic generator as a venue amenity. Most farm and barn venues in this region do not have one, and it is the thing that quietly limits what you can put in a room.

Practically, it means we are not rationing circuits between the caterer, the lighting and the band. It means a bigger lighting design is realistic here without us bringing a generator of our own and parking it somewhere it can be heard. And it means a power problem mid-reception is not an event-ending problem.

The Barn is also heated and air conditioned, which matters for gear as well as guests — equipment behaves better and so do the people operating it.

The two barns are different jobs

The Barn

Up to 300 seated, climate controlled, the primary indoor space. A contained room with a predictable acoustic, which makes it one of the more straightforward large spaces we work in the Triad.

The Pole Barn

Up to 175, and more open. An open-sided structure behaves acoustically much more like an outdoor event than an indoor one: less containment, more spill, and coverage matters more than output. We design it differently rather than scaling the Barn plan down.

The ceremony

Outdoor with an indoor backup. Both need planning rather than one being an afterthought, because the decision often gets made on the morning based on weather. We set for both where the timeline allows it.

The schedule rules

  • Venue access and decorating begin at 9:00am on the event day.
  • Everything and everyone must be out within an hour of the event ending, and no later than midnight.
  • A signed Vendor Agreement is required. We complete it — this is routine for us and it should never be your problem.
  • Venue staff set up venue-provided items only, so our equipment is our responsibility. That is how we prefer it anyway.

A 9am start and a midnight hard-out is a generous window by regional standards. It is enough to build a real lighting design rather than a fast one, which is worth knowing when you are deciding what to spend on.

Questions we get about Summerfield Farms

Does the generator mean we can do a bigger lighting design?

Realistically yes. Power is the constraint that quietly caps what you can put in most barn venues, and having it solved here means the design conversation is about what you want rather than what the building will feed.

Is the Pole Barn harder to run sound in than The Barn?

Different rather than harder. It is open-sided, so it behaves like an outdoor event — the design is coverage-led and we place more, smaller sources rather than pushing a main system. We quote it differently for that reason.

Do you handle the Vendor Agreement?

Yes. We complete and sign the venue’s Vendor Agreement as a matter of course. You should never have to chase us for paperwork.

Do you charge travel to Summerfield?

No. It is about fifteen minutes from our warehouse.

What happens if it rains and the ceremony moves inside?

We plan for both where the timeline allows it, so the call can be made on the morning rather than becoming a crisis. That usually means a second small system set and ready indoors.

Can you set up before 9am?

No — the venue’s access starts at 9:00am on the event day. That is still a comfortable window for a full build, which is not true of every venue we work.
