In-house, not on a preferred-vendor list

There is a difference between being recommended by a venue and being the venue’s AV company. At Legacy Stables we are the second one. Our equipment is in that building, our crews are there most weekends of the season, and we have produced 126 events there since September 2020 with another 13 already booked.

What that buys you is time and certainty. We are not measuring the room on your wedding day, we are not hunting for the power, and we are not guessing at how the Grace Barn sounds with 300 people in it. That shows up in the quote too, because we are not padding an estimate to cover unknowns.

There is a second piece of evidence worth more than any testimonial. Around four in ten of the events we produce at Legacy are the venue’s own corporate and fundraising programs — the nights when it is Legacy’s reputation on the line rather than ours. They keep handing us those. A venue that trusts you with its own guest list is telling you something a preferred-vendor badge cannot.

The spaces, and what each one needs

The Grace Barn

Twelve thousand square feet, climate controlled, usable year round, and it subdivides. A volume that size is a coverage problem before it is a power problem: a system aimed at the middle of it gets louder without getting clearer. We design for even coverage from the head table to the back wall rather than pushing output.

Cate’s Ballroom and the Salem Stallway

Cate’s seats up to 500 and the Salem Stallway takes around 300 for a ceremony or 110 for a reception. Both already carry permanent drapery, café lighting and chandeliers. That matters for lighting design: the room starts warm and lit rather than bare, so uplighting and dance floor work should build on what is there instead of fighting it. We pick colours that sit with the existing café light rather than clashing with it.

The Legacy House

Smaller, around 140 guests, with outdoor kitchens, a fire pit and a stone fireplace. Different job entirely: a compact, visually quiet setup, and lighting that works with fire and warm light rather than washing over it.

Creekside Terrace and the gardens

Outdoors, which means the ceremony is the thing worth getting right. Ceremony audio that reaches the back row and does not depend on a cable run across a lawn. For outdoor ceremony positions away from power we use battery systems rather than putting a generator behind your vows.

What we usually do here

  • DJ and MC running the timeline, not reading it off a sheet
  • Ceremony audio for Creekside Terrace or wherever the ceremony lands
  • Uplighting matched to the existing café lighting and drapery rather than competing with it
  • Dance floor lighting programmed to the set
  • Cold sparks, monograms, photobooths and the rest of the enhancements list
  • Live saxophone, violin, percussion or drums through DJ Fusion
  • Corporate general sessions, screens and staging when the Grace Barn is booked for business rather than a wedding

Questions we get about Legacy Stables & Events

Are you required at Legacy Stables?

No. We are the in-house AV company, which means our equipment lives there and we know the building, not that you have to use us. Couples choose us because it is simpler and usually cheaper than bringing gear in from outside, not because they are obliged to.

Do you charge travel to Legacy Stables?

No. It is about thirty minutes from our Greensboro warehouse and well inside the area we cover without a travel line.

Can you load in the day before?

Often, and more easily here than almost anywhere else we work, because our gear is already on site. Whether it happens depends on what else is booked in the room, and we will ask the venue rather than assume.

Do we need uplighting if the rooms already have café lighting and drapery?

Not necessarily, and we will tell you honestly. The existing lighting is warm and flattering already. Uplighting adds colour and lets the room change between dinner and dancing, which is worth it for some couples and not for others.

Can you cover a ceremony outside and a reception in the Grace Barn?

Routinely. It means a separate ceremony system and separate microphones, then a strike and reset while guests are at cocktails. We plan the timing for it instead of rushing it.

Do you do corporate events at Legacy Stables?

Yes. The Grace Barn works well for general sessions and dinners, and we bring screens or an LED wall, proper audio and staging. See conference and general session production for how we run those.
