We are already here every week

Fusion Sound and Lighting is based in Greensboro, about thirty minutes east, and we are the in-house AV company at Legacy Stables & Events. That is not a listing on a preferred-vendor page. It means our gear lives in that building, we know every power drop, every rigging point and exactly how the room sounds with 200 people in it, and we are on site nearly every weekend of the season.

Winston-Salem is close enough that we treat it like home turf. No travel fee conversation, no scrambling to find the loading door at 7am, and enough slack in the schedule that we can load in the day before when a venue allows it.

That familiarity shows up in the quote too. When we already know a room, we are not padding the estimate to cover unknowns.

Weddings in Winston-Salem

The city runs the full range: barn and farm venues out toward Yadkin and Bethania, restored industrial spaces downtown, country clubs, historic homes and hotel ballrooms. Each of those is a different audio problem and a different lighting opportunity, and we quote them differently rather than selling one package into all of them.

  • A DJ and MC who runs the timeline instead of reading it off a sheet
  • Ceremony audio that reaches the back row outdoors, where most of the pretty venues put you
  • Uplighting, dance floor lighting and drape sized to the actual room
  • Cold sparks, monograms, photobooths and the rest of our enhancements
  • Live saxophone, violin, percussion or drums through DJ Fusion

Pricing works the same way here as everywhere else we go: packages start at $1,800, most couples land between $2,500 and $3,500, and everything is priced in simple line items. Full detail on the weddings page.

Corporate, medical and academic work

Winston-Salem’s corporate calendar is heavily weighted toward healthcare, higher education and the research and innovation quarter, which means a lot of general sessions, symposia, donor galas and awards nights rather than product launches.

Clients we have worked with include Wake Forest University, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Brenner Children’s Hospital, Novant Health, R.J. Reynolds and Greater Winston-Salem Inc.

What that work usually needs: a general session that starts on time and sounds intelligible, presenters who are miked properly, a screen or an LED wall sized to the back row, and lighting that makes people read well on camera. See conference and general session production for how we run it.

The rooms here, and what each one needs

Farm and barn venues

Out toward Bethania, Pfafftown and the Yadkin Valley. Beautiful, and acoustically raw: hard floors, open timber, no absorption anywhere. Speech falls apart first in a room like that, so we design for coverage rather than volume and we put real thought into the ceremony, which is usually outdoors and a long way from power. These venues also go dark early and light badly, which is where uplighting stops being decorative and starts being necessary.

Downtown and the arts district

Restored industrial buildings, galleries and event spaces in and around the Innovation Quarter. Street load-in, shared freight, limited parking and often a hard strike window. We plan the load-in path before quoting, not on the day, and we build the end of the night around whatever cut-off the building enforces.

Hotel ballrooms and country clubs

The most predictable rooms in the city and the easiest to under-light. A ballroom under its own chandeliers looks like a ballroom in every photograph; the same room with the house lights down, color on the walls and a proper dance floor rig looks like your event. Ceilings are usually rigging-friendly here, which keeps the cost of a good-looking rig down.

Campus and medical venues

Auditoriums, atria and conference centres attached to universities and hospitals. These almost always come with their own rules about rigging, power and amplified sound, plus their own AV staff. Tell us the building early and we will find out exactly what applies rather than guessing.

School dances and community events

Forsyth County high schools and middle schools are a regular part of our fall and spring calendar. Clean edits, a do-not-play list we actually honour, and enough lighting to make a gym stop looking like a gym. More on the school dances page.

Questions we get about events in Winston-Salem

Do you charge travel to Winston-Salem?

No. Winston-Salem is about thirty minutes from our Greensboro warehouse and it is well inside the radius we cover without a travel line on the quote.

You are in-house at Legacy Stables. Can you still work other Winston-Salem venues?

Yes, and we do constantly. Being in-house at Legacy means our equipment lives there and we know that building cold. It does not make us exclusive to it.

Can you load in the day before?

In Winston-Salem more often than anywhere else, because the drive is short enough that a day-before load-in does not cost us a crew day. Whether it happens depends on the venue’s schedule, and we will ask them.

Do you know the outdoor ceremony spots at the farm venues?

Several of them, yes. What matters more is the specifics: distance from power, whether the officiant will wear a lav, and what the wind does at that time of day. We walk it rather than assume.

Can you do a Winston-Salem corporate event and a wedding on the same weekend?

Usually. We run multiple crews and own our inventory rather than sub-renting, which is what makes a double-booked Saturday possible. Tell us the dates early and we will tell you honestly if it is tight.

What does a Winston-Salem corporate event cost?

Entry-level single-day corporate production starts around $4,000. A typical 100 to 500 person single-day event runs up to about $50,000 depending on rooms, screens, lighting and video. Our largest builds have run $80,000 to $100,000.

Can you work with a venue’s in-house AV team?

Yes, and in campus and hospital buildings we usually do. Some venues require their house system for certain elements or charge a fee for outside gear. We find out the actual rules early and price around them honestly rather than discovering them on load-in day.

Do you do the ceremony as well as the reception?

Almost always, and at the farm venues it is the part most worth paying for. A separate system and separate microphones for the ceremony, then a strike and reset before the reception, with the timing planned rather than rushed.
